The Lamp Men
In the beginning of the 20th century the National Electric Lamp Association, a consortium of incandescent lamp manufacturers, purchased what was then called Warner's Island. Shortly after the purchase, the name was changed to Association Island. The island served as a permanent location for their annual retreat, where the lamp men would plan the next year's business strategy while enjoying a rustic camping experience.
