Association Island Season Update
Dear Island Guests,
We are halfway through this historic camping season. We appreciate all Your support and patronage! In January and February of this year, Our main concern was about the forecasted historic flooding for this year. Our efforts were concentrated on fortification of our Causeway, and waterfront sites ( I am sure many of you have seen the very large barriers placed during the offseason), and installation of three commercial generators because of the risk of an electrical outage from the forecasted flooding. We are blessed that the flooding did not materialize. 2019 was bad enough! What we did not anticipate was the Pandemic. In early April, it was not clear that We would even be able to open. We made overtures to the various entities to allow us to open as a season campground, with occupancy limited to 50%, no guests, etc. just in case the health department would make such rules. Fortunately, we were able to open to guests with self-contained bathrooms. We needed to do what we can to keep guests and staff safe. It was a mad scramble to come up with processes that minimized person to person contact. We developed our Association Island Camping App to streamline communications, reduce cash transactions, develop online waivers, and promote a check-in process that bypassed coming into the office. YOU have all been great transitioning to this new NORMAL. We thank you ALL for being such great guests and helping Us adapt to the Pandemic. We still have 1/2 a season to go, but We feel much more confident that we can finish this season, and share this Beautiful location Called Association Island with everyone.
